More Than 1,700 Homes and Businesses Can Now Experience America’s Smartest, Most Reliable Converged WiFi Network for the First Time

Comcast, in partnership with the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, announced a major milestone in broadband expansion – connecting more than 1,700 previously unserved homes and businesses to reliable, high-speed Internet for the first time. More residents and businesses in Centre, Franklin, Lycoming, and Schuylkill counties now have access to Xfinity’s suite of products and services, which brings Internet, mobile, entertainment, and smart home services together to give customers more speed, savings, and control over their connected lives:

As the final homes and businesses are being connected, residents can visit Xfinity.com/mytown to see if their address is eligible for service.

“Expanding access to high-speed Internet across unserved communities in Pennsylvania is a vital part of our mission,” said Rick Siger, Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development. “We’re thrilled to bring more rural Pennsylvanians online for the first time with Xfinity high-speed Internet.”

These expansion projects were funded in part by the Unserved High-Speed Broadband (UHSB) Funding Program, which was designed to deploy middle-mile and last-mile high-speed broadband infrastructure to unserved areas in Pennsylvania.

“Having high-speed Internet can be truly life-changing,” said Ricky Frazier Jr., Senior Vice President of Comcast’s Keystone Region. “Comcast is proud to bring fast, reliable connectivity on the nation’s largest network to communities that have never been connected before, delivering a range of products and services – including Xfinity Mobile – to meet the needs of every household.”

Comcast’s most recent expansion is part of the company’s latest investment in Pennsylvania, which also includes expansions to Washington County, and Cranberry, Marshall, and Pine Townships in the western part of the Commonwealth, plus Berks, Lackawanna, Luzerne, and Columbia Counties in the east.

Xfinity Brings Full Suite of Residential Services to More Unserved Parts of Pennsylvania

Comcast’s full suite of residential Xfinity services is now available, including high-speed Internet, streaming, mobile, voice, and home security – delivering reliable, connected experiences for today’s consumers at home or on the go.

Additionally, Comcast has made significant investments in Pennsylvania’s nonprofits focused on helping people build digital skills, expanding WiFi-connected Lift Zones, and funding connectivity and Internet adoption programs.
